Lineage Societies

I attended a presentation at the Tennessee Genealogical Society today that was very enjoyable. There were representatives of several lineage societies. They talked about requirements to join and the purpose of each group. The groups represented were:

Memphis Scottish Society
Huguenot Society
Daughters of the American Colonists
Daughters of the American Revolution
Sons of the American Revolution
Sons of the Confederate Veterans
Western Front Association
United Daughters of the Confederacy
General Society of the War of 1812
U S Daughters of 1812
New England Women Society
Jamestown Society
Descendants of Early Settlers of Shelby County (and adjacent counties) Tennessee [prior to 1870]

Questions were also asked about the Mayflower Society
Also present was a local author, Jama Richardson, who spoke about the genealogy based children's books she has created.

What a pleasant morning...
