Jim Wagoner ] Lunatic

This day J Hodge, Attorney for the Commonwealth, filed an information as follows, to-wit:

To Hon. T P Gray, Judge of the Lyon County Court:
I am reliably informed that Jim Wagoner is a person of unsound mind, and a lunatic and therefore ask that a jury be impaneled to pass upon the subject.

Ordered by the Court, That N W Utley Esq, an Attorney of this Court, be and he is hereby appointed to defend for and on behalf of the person under trial.

To inquire, etc., comes a jury to-wit: R T D?les, T J Dunn, J W Barnett, T?ker Wells, William Russell, F E Cummins, Levi Oliver, Rody Oliver, J H Bird, Willie Holland, Eddy Holloway & Chas Roberson

who being duly impaneled and sworn according to law, after hearing the evidence, returned the following verdict, viz: We of the jury find from the evidence that Jim Wagoner is a person of unsound mind and a lunatic; that the unsoundness of mind was caused by self abuse that he was born in can't tell, and resides in Louisville and is 28 years old; that he was not brought into this State for the purpose of becoming a charge upon the Commonwealth; that he owns no estate no estate [sic] of any kind; that his father is _______ and mother ______ and reside in ________ and _____ not estate nothing ?? learned of his father and mother sufficient to support the person under trial; and said Jim Wagoner is not capable of laboring either in whole or in part for his support.
And he is a convict serving a life sentence in the Ky Brand(?) Prison at Eddyville Lyon Co Ky

wherefore it is adjudged by the Court that said Jim Wagoner is of unsound mind and a ______lunatic and that he be immediately conveyed to the asylum at Hopkinsville Kentucky, and _____is appointed to convey ___ to said asylum and he is allowed _____ guard.
