My Grandmother is in the front row, second from the right. Her name is Mary Cummins. She later married my grandfather, Elwood Gray. The other women in the picture are 5 of her 6 sisters. There was also one brother. Front row (L to R) Nina C Cummins (b: 12 Feb 1893), Iva Cummins (b: 3 Nov 1880), Mary Cummins (b: 16 Feb 1888), Rebecca Cummins (b: 30 Nov 1889); back row (L to R) Fannie G Cummins (b: 27 Sep 1876, Willie Moses Cummins (b: 24 Jun 1886). Not in the picture is sister Nonia Cummins (b: 20 Sep 1883) and brother John Wesley "Pat" Cummins (b: 23 Apr 1874.
The picture was taken on the front porch of their home in Lyon County Kentucky. The picture was taken before 15 Jul 1911, as that is the date of death for Nina.
I like the idea that they used their guitars as props, and like to imagine that after the picture was taken the dour expressions disappeared and the music began!!!
