Benj. F. Timmons ] Lunatic

This day W W Martin, Attorney for the Commonwealth, filed an information as follows, to-wit:

To Hon. W L Crumbaugh, Judge of the Lyon County Court:
I am reliably informed that Benjamin F. Timmons is a person of unsound mind, and a lunatic and therefore ask that a jury be impaneled to pass upon the subject.

Ordered by the Court, That F J Watkins Esq, an Attorney of this Court, be and he is hereby appointed to defend for and on behalf of the person under trial.

To inquire, etc., comes a jury to-wit: Peter Jones, J M Smith, U M Boyd, T W Tinsley, J H Brock, C W Rucker, O M Jenkins, F P Machen, M P Molloy, T H Molloy, G C Lester and C W Davis


who being duly impaneled and sworn according to law, after hearing the evidence, returned the following verdict, viz: We of the jury find from the evidence that Benjamin F Timmons is a person of unsound mind and a lunatic; that the unsoundness of mind was caused by low state of health that he was born in Ky, and resides in Lyon Co Ky and is about 45 years old; that he was not brought into this State for the purpose of becoming a charge upon the Commonwealth; that he owns three to four hundred dollars worth personal property. mules, hogs, cattle. no other estate of any kind; that his father and mother are dead and said Timmons is not capable of laboring either in whole or in part for his support.

wherefore it is adjudged by the Court that said Benjamin F Timmons is of unsound mind and a lunatic and that he be immediately conveyed to the asylum at Hopkinsville Kentucky, and M F Boughter is appointed to convey him to said asylum and he is allowed one guard.

5.(a) Attempt at suicide - Yes while shaving
(b) Violence toward others - Threatened to shoot his oldest son had to be kept away from house
6.Periodic frenzy - alternate violent & lucid periods of 24 hours
7.(a) Restraint imposed - Constant attendance of one or more persons
(b) Treatment used -
(c) Bleeding - At nose profusely when first taken
8. Injury about head - None
